Dengue outbreak in Samoa, ongoing since January 2025. Per Samoa Ministry of Health situation report (Issue No. 47, 9 March 2026, epi-week 10): 17,402 cumulative clinically diagnosed cases and 5,117 lab-confirmed cases since 1 January 2025, 9 dengue-related deaths, serotypes DENV-1 (68%) and DENV-2 (32%), 64% of cases in Upolu and 36% in Savaii, children under 15 accounting for 74% of cases. Per the WHO/SPC regional Pacific dengue update (7 August 2026), Samoa remains one of the most-affected 2026 Pacific countries, with low levels of transmission continuing as of early August 2026 -- unlike Tonga (outbreak declared over 31 July 2026) and Cook Islands (25 May 2026).
