WHO Weekly Epidemiological Record, WER 101-31 (epidemiological week 31, 27 July to 2 August 2026, cholera data as of 28 June 2026): South Sudan reported 10,526 cumulative cholera cases and 111 deaths (CFR 1.1%) from 1 January to 28 June 2026, with 2,738 new cases and 18 deaths in June alone (a 67% increase in cases and 18% decrease in deaths from the previous month). Cases were concentrated in Unity state (93.5%), driven by Rubkona county — which hosts the country's largest displacement camps and recorded 2,100 cases and 11 deaths in June alone amid inadequate water, sanitation and hygiene conditions. Upper Nile, Lakes and Jonglei states account for the remainder. Note: WHO's numbered 'Multi-country outbreak of cholera' series ended at update #38 (30 June 2026); the monthly cholera update now appears in the Weekly Epidemiological Record instead.
