PAHO Epidemiological Alert Measles in the Americas Region - 7 August 2026. Summary of the Situation in the Americas Region In 2026, between epidemiological week (EW) 1 and EW 28, 47,459 measles cases were confirmed in the Americas Region, including 44 deaths. The cases were reported by 16 countries and one territory. Guatemala (n= 30,371 cases, including 26 deaths), Mexico (n= 12,255 cases, including 17 deaths), the United States of America (n= 2,260 cases), and Peru (n= 1,277) account for the majority (95%) of confirmed cases (Table 1) (2–20).
